Dimensions

Since the reels are turned by hand, the dimensions may vary slightly from one piece to another.
(Plus or minus 7 inches in circumference, 3 1/2 inches opening in the center and 2 inches in thickness)

Maintenance

Our reels are made to face the elements. With a little care, they will survive your best fishing stories. A gentle rinse and a wipe down with a cloth after a saltwater outing. A thin coat of natural oil each year will restore its shine. Keep it dry, away from sources of intense heat or cold. OJO is an object that gets better with age and the stories it tells.

Wood species

OJO favors hardwoods. Among others, maple, oak, cherry, and ash.

Choose the thread

It all depends on the target species; for a hand reel like OJO, 12 lb test and up is a standard that ensures good control and superior comfort.

History

Long before modern reels and rods, there was hand fishing. Born of a need for efficiency, the hand-held reel, often called a "Cuban yo-yo," has been used for generations around the world for its reliability, both at sea and in rivers.

It is a technique that requires intuition; you feel every vibration, every movement, and every strike directly at your fingertips.

Design

The reels' sleek design is conceived for tactile and fluid fishing. OJO contours to the hand, making the grip feel natural.

Technique

Learn to cast and retrieve the line with precision. Control the speed, master the action. The motion becomes natural and predictable.
